Your Most Scarce Resource: Time

the sun is always setting on the time you have. how will you use it?

You can get more of almost anything: money, homes, cars, 600 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets…. The only thing we all have a limited supply of is time and none of us know how much of it we will receive. Here is something I wrote a while ago which may help you with perspective on how you are using the precious gift of the time you have:

Time is not on your side
Time is not your friend
Time is an enemy
Time is a thief

Carving lines in your face
Stealing your dreams from youth
Crumbling mountains
Withering forests

Our breaths tick like the hands of a clock counting down,
the hours,
the minutes,
the seconds,
We have left

Time will outlast us
as long as forever
as far as east from west

No one knows how much they have to spend.
There is no account,
no statement,
no balance sheet.
It is finite for every one of us in an infinite universe.

Look to the night sky and you can see it.
The light from each star has traveled millions of years
to arrive here at the very instant in time that you perceive it.

Scarcity increases value.
Everyday the time we have left becomes more scarce
an so tomorrow is even more valuable that today.

Why do we so often let our lives happen to us?
Why do so many live for others and not for themselves?

It is impossible to kill time.
Time is killing you.
It is impossible to waste time.
Time is wasting you.

We must strive to become Time’s master.
We must spend our lives on growing,
increasing the value of our life and the impact it has on others,
to match the increasing value of every second,
every hour,
and every day we spend.
